3. DRESS CODE
NEATNESS AND SCHOOL PRIDE IS A HIGH PRIORITY FOR US. IT CULTIVATES A POSITIVE SELF-IMAGE. The very important principle of "what goes with a school uniform" must apply at all times.
- Learners may wear only combinations of school wear as found in the list of official, formal school wear.
- The long trousers of boys and girls must fit perfectly around the hips - the crotch of the trousers may not hang between the legs. The legs of the trousers must be of the correct length and must end neatly on top of the shoes.
- The boys must wear a navy or black belt with ordinary buckle.
- Only black school shoes are allowed for both boys and girls.
- Black leather or canvas sandals may be worn by primary school learners ONLY. Sandals must have straps around the heel. No slip-slops are allowed. Learners from Grades 1 - 12 may not come to school barefoot.
- Boys gingham shirts have to be tucked in AT ALL TIMES. Because of the style of the shirt, girls may wear their winter and summer shirts over their skirts or trousers.
- No underwear may be visible.
- School tracksuits are sportswear and may not be worn as formal schoolwear.
- The school T-shirts and Quantec shorts do not form part of the formal schoolwear and may therefore only be worn during sport practices or matches.
- No T-shirt may be worn under the schoolwear.
- When the school shirt's sleeves are rolled up, it must be rolled up to the elbow.
- Girls may not roll up their skirts around the waist.
- The hem of the skirt may not be more than 10cm above the knee.
- The school blazer will be fazed in during 2008 for Grade 7 - 11.
4. JEWELLERY
4.1 Boys
- Wrist watches and medic-alert bangles may be worn. No other jewellery is allowed.
4.2 Girls
- Wrist watches and medic-alert bangles may be worn.
- Earrings are allowed. Only ONE earring per earlobe is allowed and then it may only be a gold, silver or diamanté stud or small ring of no larger than 15mm in diametre.
5. HAIR
Neat, well cared for hair completes the picture of a proud Curro student who has a good selfimage and who feels good about his/her school.
Boys
- Hair must have a NEATLY STYLED, SHORT APPEARANCE and must be clean at all times.
- Hair must be combed and no strange styles on top of the head are allowed.
- Hair may not hang in the eyes, may not be cut unevenly, may not be clipped back by something.
- Hair may not be gelled to create strange styles - especially not to hide the length of the hair.
- Hair that hangs over the ears or shirt collar is too long.
- Hair may not be dyed.
Girls
- Hair that is longer than shoulder-length must be fastened.
- Longer hair may not hang in the eyes - it must be tied back with a navy or white hair band, an elastic or clip, or tied back in a pony tail.
- Dyed hair that deviates abnormally from the natural hair colour (e.g. white spots or stripes or unnatural colours like orange, blue, etc.) is not allowed.
6. BEARD
Boys must be clean shaven every day. Long side-burns or moustaches are not allowed. Side-burns may not be below the earhole.
7. MAKE-UP (GIRLS)
It is not appropriate to wear make-up with a school uniform. Long nails and French manicures are not allowed.
THE RECTOR (OR HIS DELEGATE) RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE A FINAL DECISION SHOULD ANYTHING BE UNCLEAR.
